Purpose & Values
Many communities are called to the important work of gently yet purposefully untangling unhealthy inherited systems and structures that continue to shape direction, connection, and access to the spaces we need to heal, grow, and thrive together.
In response, Mayála acknowledge the quiet power of community-led renewal, where safe, grounded spaces are being created by grassroots voices who carry lived wisdom and a shared vision for healing.
These are not crisis-driven interventions, but spaces of prevention, care, and connection embedded in knowledge and awareness and relationship.
At Mayála, we honour and contribute to this movement, creating environments that centre identity, creativity, and self-determined paths, so our communities are not just surviving but shaping thriving futures on our own terms.

Mayála honours and carries the inspiration
of Kunibídji Kunbarlang woman A.Eather,
an educator, slam poet, environmentalist, community
leader and advocate for peace, whose life and spirit remain a guiding force behind this journey. Her words and vision continue to ripple through the stories we share and the spaces we create.

Mayála BalaBala
Mayála is built on the following stilts to support a balance of inner knowing & shared growing. Inspired by the traditional Bala-Bala - a sturdy platform and dwelling used in West Arnhem Land, the Bala-Bala symbolises the strength and interconnected layers of Mayála’s purpose.
